Overview

A little bit about us. Starting in 1999 and up until summer 2007 I have worked alone providing websites to small and medium business. I have always stuck to the idea that if anyone was going to help, they would have to be capable, dependable and have maximum knowledge of programming. I have found that person, Bill Lucier, our programming guru. I am comfortable in saying we can offer virtually any kind of web experience. Having hit the ground running, the future looks good.

Malcolm Sword, a resource for writing web copy, has extensive experience in the energy sector, writing articles for major oil and gas trade magazines for two decades. It is my hope to have him work full time, but contracting is a reality these days. Rob Pasay works in the field of office intranet and hardware setup, and has a capable programmer himself. He has been responsible for many quality projects directed our way and this will continue.

Web Checklist

1. Front Page - Make a good first impression.

A successful front page does two things. It tells people who you are and what you do. A page header, formatted text explanation, accompanying graphic and a concise navigation bar will quickly allow people to carry on into your site.

2. Site Navigation - Is your site easy to use?

Does your navigation bar break down your sub categories in a logical way? The navigation bar is the sites' control panel. It should be prominent, attractive and most importantly, easy to read.

3. Page Layout & Templates - Keeping your site consistant.

One of the keys of a user friendly site is consistantly placed components such as headers, the navigation bar and footers on all pages. This can be done with or without templates. Templates are ideal for numerous pages with similar content that will not need frequent updating. There are numerous layout options available including framesets, resized tables (to adapt to different screen resolutions and monitor sizes) and browser compatibility settings.

4. Text Formatting - Are people understanding you?

Writing skills are crucial to the success of your site. What applies to a successful book also applies to internet text. Successful copy includes good spelling, grammar and paragraph handling.

5. Static Graphics - Do your pictures compliment or confuse?

Graphics are an important aspect of a website. The key with graphics are not necessarily to have a lot of them, but that what you have is of exceptional quality. All graphics must be optimized for the internet. This means to keep the file size down while still maintaining clarity.

6. Animated Graphics - How much of a good thing?

Animation can add an exciting dimension to a website. However, like static graphics, they can become cumbersome if overused, and if done badly can destroy your site. Animation includes flash, animated gifs, rollover buttons and more.

7. Online Forms - Sign up online (registration, order, survey, feedback and more).

Online forms (e.g. feedback forms) can help your users get information to you via user interface pages on your website. The advantages and options of online forms are endless, and can be tailor made to meet your requirements.

8. Online Shopping - Do you have merchandise to sell?

Simply put, a portion of your website as a store, where people can buy your merchandise via credit card transactions in a secure environment.

9. Database Management - Real time account updates, user profiles and more.

Includes membership creation for your users and also an administration section for yourself, so you can manage your web content.

10. Video, Audio & RSS Feeds - Embedded video & audio styled to your site.

If you have the footage we can set you up. Editing capabilities also exist. As for RSS, keep your clients up to date with an updated news feed that they can subscribe to. We also do weblogs, where users have input capabilities to the topics of your choice, and chat rooms.
